Rwanda, situated at a lofty 1500 meters (5000 feet), enjoys a temperate equatorial highland climate. While average temperatures hover between 20 and 27 degrees Celsius, the lush forested mountains offer a cooler respite, with chilly nights. The country experiences two rainy seasons: a long one from March to May and a shorter one from December to February.

Rwanda can be visited year-round, but the dry seasons (December-February and June-August) are generally considered the best times to travel.

The power supply is EU / European standard voltage of 230/240 and power sockets are UK style (square pin type). It is important to note that if you want to use US appliances, you will need a voltage converter as well as a plug converter. Power cuts and voltage fluctuation are not uncommon.

From 1st Jan 2018, Nationals of all countries receive visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders.

Citizens of all countries that are not visa exempt, have also option to submit application online (Click here) or at the Rwanda Diplomatic Missions of the country of residence before departure. Those applying online have option to pay online or upon arrival.

Rwanda has made significant strides in promoting African unity by opening Its borders to other Africans, enabling visa-free travel for all citizens of the continent. This move, positions Rwanda as the fourth African nation to remove such restrictions, following Benin, The Gambia, and Seychelles.
